I would like to encourage you to give ASDT 0.9.0 a try again. It rocks! For linux too! Once you've installed it succefully (be sure to use Java 5 and a fresh Eclipse 3.x), you get syntax highlighting, code completion, auto-compile, logging, wizards, project folding, outline view (not complete yet), and so on.
