I hadn't thought about progress being made since I last used Windows
as devloper back at the turn of the century ;-)
I we can settle of tar.gz/.tgz then it would be the certainly be easer
and result in smaller bandwith load on the server.

Argghghg one that that hasn't improved on Windows is the nightmare of
incompatibility between versions of VS.
I think we should probably just select the most widely used versions
of VS for binary releases, if users want to target an older version or
the absolute latest then they should pull down the source and build
themselves.
