I think we should probably just select the most widely used versions of VS for binary releases, if users want to target an older version or the absolute latest then they should pull down the source and build themselves.
Well, if we make it easy to make binary packages and upload them to some sandbox area on the server where maintainers can then move them to the official download area, then people could potentially contribute binaries for all combinations (or all used combinations) a little while after release... We could officially support the most widely used, and these would be available very shortly after a release, and then users would contribute whatever they use later.
That's one of the many benefits of making the packaging of binaries easier.
