Roland, I did not say it was useless, that's your words not mine I said I would not want any model be loaded no matter the format changing my global state, from my own experience and needs that's not the role of a model in most use cases, that's the role of the application
But your change could make the DAE plugin not usable for many users applications and all my applications I'm not aware of any other loader that overrides the global state in this manner, that's why I suggested making this an option not the default behavior. At no point did I say it was useless Most people are not loading a single model to view, they are typically loading a models in to a scene that can contains hundred and thousand of models , so which one of these models should control the camera and the state ? In my 28+ years of experience in the Gaming, Vis-sim and GeoInt arena I have never wanted or needed a model to over ride my global state . ( that's not saying some may want such a behavour, such as yourself) As to the link the same argument holds true that the a model should not be overriding the camera position and orientation by default. Having a list of views you could switch from a model is a reasonable thing, I'm just against this taking control away from my applications What your proposing has good value but not as I stated no as a default behavior IMO, as all state is highly controlled within my applications PS. sorry I took 20 minutes to respond I will endeavour to responding much fast the next time :) ____________________________________________________________________________ __ Gordon Tomlinson [email protected] IM: [email protected] www.vis-sim.com www.gordontomlinson.com ____________________________________________________________________________ __ -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Roland Smeenk Sent: Saturday, May 02, 2009 4:50 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [osg-submissions] Collada .dae plugin improved light support GordonTomlinson wrote: > > This should be an option that is OFF by default IMO > I guess you're volunteering to add this option... And while you're at it you might as well add the option for you comment in this post http://forum.openscenegraph.org/viewtopic.php?t=883. I must say that it is slightly demotivating to send in a submission and within 20 minutes find a comment that basically says it is useless and should be off by default. -- Roland ------------------ Read this topic online here: http://forum.openscenegraph.org/viewtopic.php?p=11247#11247 _______________________________________________ osg-submissions mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openscenegraph.org/listinfo.cgi/osg-submissions-openscenegraph. org _______________________________________________ osg-submissions mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openscenegraph.org/listinfo.cgi/osg-submissions-openscenegraph.org
