I haven't had time to look into this yet, but I've been following the
thread with great interest. I'll just add that to me, this kind of
design is essential if the scene graph paradigm is going to survive in
the OpenGL 3 era. The way things currently work, I end up trying to do
everything I can to stick with fixed functionality, because as soon as
you start using shaders, the code in question becomes far less reusable.
I'm planning on checking out VirtualProgram out as soon as I get the
chance, although I have no idea when that will be at this point.
