I see the same issue, and I agree with your assessment. In our client
apps we have removed the threading handler (but can re-enable it for
testing).

I admit I haven't tested that much, because for me, when a driver crash
has occured, then any 3D app that starts will cause one until I reboot.
So it's a bit time consuming to test these issues. But I volunteer to
test any solutions others come up with - I'm not an expert in threading
anyways so I doubt I'd be able to help in developing solutions.
Thanks for testing and confirming I wasn't just an evangelist wearing
