If we can leave the aggressive warnings on then I think this will be
better, but we can only leave it on if the vast majority of the build
is clean from warnings, spurious or not.  I think the way to tackle
this is to fix what warnings are practical and sensible to fix, and
then disable the spurious ones.

If we can't easily get a build clean from warnings on the major
platforms then we'll need to disable the aggressive warnings by
default on all platforms.  I'd rather strive for a bit longer before
falling back to this position.
