Hi All,

I've now completed all the key feature development for OSG-2.8, and
I'm focus on getting the svn/trunk stable enough to make the
OpenSceneGraph-2.8 branch. My current thought is to complete the
outstanding submission merges over the weekend and make the last dev
release 2.7.9 on Monday. This will need lots of build and runtime
testing from the community, and if things look good then make an
OSG-2.8 branch mid to end of next week. This OSG-2.8 branch would
make the feature freeze for 2.8 and the beginning of a series of
release candidates for the final stable OSG-2.8.0. Once 2.8.0 goes
out the OSG-2.8 branch will then be maintained with any further stable
patch release (2.8.1 etc) being sourced from this.

If svn/trunk is looking near perfect for the release we may even be
able to get OSG-2.8.0 out this month, but probably we'll be talking
about a release in the first week of February. This is a two week
window that I feel is doable given good support from the community in
getting the OSG tested and debugged across platforms. Towards this
effort I would suggest it would be great time to volunteer more system
for doing nightly builds of svn/trunk and the OSG-2.8 branch when it
comes out, the CDash page is at:

    http://www.cdash.org/CDashPublic/index.php?project=OpenSceneGraph

I would very much like for us to get the OSG binaries sorted out for
this OSG-2.8, both for platforms like Windows and OSX, and for linux,
in particular knocking on the Linux distro doors to get OSG-2.8 in the
up coming linux releases.

I greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide in terms or
testing or helping out on the coordinating with packaging of the final
release.

Thanks in advance,
Robert.
