Hi Robert,

Interesting experiences!

The other side to note is that finally I have machines with all three major graphics vendors represented so I can do testing of the OSG across a better spread of desktop hardware,

Next step is to get a desktop with Windows, one with MacOS X, one with Irix, one with AIX, one with Solaris, .... :-)

And then maybe three Windows (Nv, ATI, Intel), three MacOS X (Nv, ATI, Intel), ... :-)

It would be nice if those triple-PCIE16x boards let us deactivate the slots selectively, so the same machine could boot with one or the other video card without having to open the box and swap cards...

My testing this week has shown that NVidia still do have the best OpenGL drivers, but that both ATI and Intel are now doing a pretty decent job - neither are perfect but they are now finally getting to play in the same ballpark as NVidia.

I won't say "told you so", but I've said they were improving a lot lately. ATI mostly their drivers, and Intel mostly because they're packing more capable hardware (you've got one of the recent and high end integrated graphics chipsets, the old GMA950 family is more wide-spread and your experience would have been totally different on that).

Of course it's good to see it for oneself, and I applaud your open mindedness for actually getting the hardware and setting it up. Is the hardware yours? (i.e. not attached to a particular project/contract and need to be returned once you're done with the project)
