I think that is quite an overkill. Compiling the VRML plugin even on Windows is not *THAT* difficult. The process is well documented, it just takes a bit of time.

sorry, I wasn't dissing the plugin. I was hoping that by seeing the ease of installation on Linux it would convert someone from the dark side :-)
