If you need hardware skinning right now, there is a working implementation in 
osgCal2 nodekit. That is mature and working, based on the Cal3D library. 

Otherwise this type of question is best addressed directly to the osgAnimation 
developers instead to the OSG mailing list - it will likely get drowned out 
here.
