Hi Bruce, I'm not clear on what you really want, but one technique for identifying objects in the scene is to simply assign a name to them. To decide what parts of the scene respond to picking one would use a Node NodeMask in combination with a IntersectionVisitor TraversalMask. To work out the coords you can use the bounding sphere/box of the node/drawable or the ComputeBoundsVisitor, or the intersection results... I can't say at all which one of these may or may not be appropriately as your question is far too open ended.
