In my experience I have no found any problem about geometry. I don't know about 
animation even if a simple rotation "animation take" has worked fine in the 
past, but is a too much simple example.

However, no problems with geometry.

I understand your situation. C4D is the best modeling and animation tool in the 
world for me (much clean and usable than max or others similar tools and now is 
very powerfull in the modeling and animation). The problem is the 
interoperability with third-party software. The export formats seem to be much 
buggy even if maxon says no...hummm...
