Yep, I'm an engineer through and through. One thing you do get as an engineer is your gut feeling becomes part of your engineering instict, both informed by analysis and the analysis informed by the gut feeling. Sometimes I just have a hunch that something is right or wrong but takes me a while to work out the actual reasons for it.
