It's mentioned in the QSG as a mechanism to verify your OSG install, along
with osgversion. It's a simple 1-word command that let's you know whether
things are working or not. Osgviewer is not a good substitute, as you need
to have data installed, setup OSG_FILE_PATH correctly, etc.

If there's another executable that would serve the same purpose, I can
change the QSG. But ideally it should be something small and simple and
included in the binaries.
