Hi All! I vaguely remember having read something about this lately, but for the life of me I cannot find it again. So here goes:
In older versions of OSMand you could long-touch on the map, the context menu would give you the choice of 'set as destination' (or set as 'alternate destination' - I am guessing the english menu items here, since I usually use the german UI). The chequered flag would be displayed at the selected coordinates and if it went outside the screen, a nice red arrow would appear pointing out the direction to your goal. I used this feature quite regularily, especially when in an unfamiliar city: Step outside the hotel, mark this door as 'goal' and never get lost again :-) Now in OSMand 2.3.5 this is no longer possible to do - at least, I have not been able to do so. OK, I was able to find 'map markers', but these seem to be only really useful in conjunction with calculating a route - something I mostly do not want to do when walking. Only if I actually calculate a route with some map marker specified as a destination, then I get the chequered flag. But also the route, which keeps recalculating (and eating battery) when simply walking around. So for my question: Does anyone have a method for recreating the earlier method to specify a map marker as destination and have the red arrow point there *without* having routing active?
