I just did a test run w/Google Map. No issue at all w/the screen orientation. So it does not appear to be solely a hardware problem.
I want to run a test route w/out SafeMode but it's difficult to use when the screen shows just a blank grey - which is what happens w/out SafeMode when it zooms into 500ft or less (on the legend at the bottom).
