Yesterday I drove my commute with the GPX recording enabled but the Navigation off. The screen stayed rock solid the whole trip. No flipping around between different display and orientations. So Navigation (at least in SafeMode which I have to use because the map won't display below 500ft zoom, using regular mode) loads the system up or uses resources which cause display to freak out. At least during the 2 or 3 seconds after lighting the display up again after it's been dark.
Come to think of it, the GPX recording kept the screen lit full time, all the way. Maybe the problem has more to do with lighting the screen up again than with OSM using resources... When I had the screen flipping problem day before, as noted above, it occurred each time the screen came back on before a turn; lighting the screen up caused it to display, for 1/4 second or less, the clock face, and, I think, the other apps which were open. And I don't remember exactly but I wonder if each app displayed originally in portrait, then flipped to landscape, then was replaced by the next (open) app which did the same. And finally OSM got control and then it settled. Which would mean the opsys was involved with this problem; or the call(s) to the opsys which lit up the screen. Or not. I don't know anything about Androids innards. Cheers. Rufus -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Osmand" group.
