As far as I know, Android 5.1 is the worst offender. In later Android, you 
can give an app an exception when handling data. As Android 5.1 is now 
"old", personally, I wouldn't expect changes in Osmand. 

As for the copying - copy the files manually. First do a backup of the 
Osmand folder (or the Android/data/xxx.osmand.xxx folder) - not sure how 
you have it installed - to keep it safe. Then, change the path and manually 
copy the files in file manager. Osmand will see the files as soon as they 
are in the correct folders according the path set in the Osmand settings.
