So. This is getting weird... As far add i know, and i never did this, because 
storage is kaputt if sd card dies, i never used it to extend internal storage. 
If you did so successfully, your internal storage indeed should be bigger...
I'm using an sd card as sd card, since android 5 (now on 7.1) for osmand with 
no problems, but you have to take the android road. Put in in 
Android/data/net.osmand[.plus] (i have the paid version) via settings. This 
should work without root
