Of course, it is possible but it is a very ugly solution. Suitable as a 
last chance way but obviously not as normal usage way.

There are no such numbers in my OsmAnd+ installation, I never saw them on 
the map. Maybe you have some extensions and/or hidden settings changed.

Surely. All the more annoying that there is no way to tune hardcoded 
defaults. For example, Windows always had many non-optimal defaults too but 
most of them can be easily changed via the registry.

Surely. But in any language, it is very easy to replace a constant with a 
variable obtained from the existing database. So making hardcoded values 
configurable would not need much work.

Unfortunately, that doesn't make sense. To implement changes we discussed, 
I first should get familiar with Android development environment, install 
and configure it, get familiar with source code set, then make the 
necessary changes, get the code compiled, debug it on different emulated 
environments and real devices. I never tried programming for Android so the 
main problem is the "entry price". If OsmAnd was Windows software, things 
would be much simpler.
