I don't have an answer, but I'm impressed you are able to get street-by-street directions. For externally-created GPXs, most reports here describe a situation where OsmAnd follows the GPX, but not the underlying map. Which means that every twist in the road is announced generically as a turn. I'd be interested in seeing one of your GPXs, if you're inclined to post it.
