I could try at bridging the BeOS and Haiku MIDI Kit to the OSS API, but it is totally separated from the media_server, and the BeOS version hardcodes the device paths and ioctls AFAIK. I don't know the status of the Haiku version, it should be possible to make it add-on based to handle OSS devices as well. Besides I still have to update the BeOS OSS port to mercurial. I have also been wondering about MC97 modem support, it should be possible to publish tty devices from them I suppose. With DSL and GSM cards and phones around the need is less important, but it could still be an interesting feature. Even ALSA is supposed (I never tried) to support my ATI IXP modem but I never dig the code. I don't know how BSD and others handle MC97 modems, do they support them at all with separate driver ? Is MC97 support planned anyhow ? BTW, top-posting is discouraged by the Netiquette.
