And not just Ireland. Spain and France, Germany and Austria all have had their issues. Though identifying terrorists by religion is not particularly smart and smacks of sectarianism. It's religion today when, in the 1950s it would have been race. Were the IRA 'Christian"? What about Timothy mcVeigh? Theodore Kaczynski? Eric Rudolf? Buford Furrow? Army of God? Lambs of Christ? Ku Klux Klan (as a great example of state-sponsored internal terrorism). The CSA? The Lord's Resistance Army? The INLA? The UVF? The UDA? The LVF? ETA? National Front for the Liberation of Corsica? October First? Red Army Faction? The Revolutionary Struggle? The Shining Path? Aryan Nations? Masada Action? The Order? The Animal Liberation Front? Earth Liberation Front? [1] These groups did not act Christian though they came from ostensibly Christian countries. I guess you have to look at it in terms of magnitude. Some groups want liberation of their homelands or peace for animals. I see the recent upsurge in Islamic-sourced terrorism as a direct response to the atrocities committed by the United States and allies in Afghanistan, Iraq and, soon, Iran.
