I don't think that explanation holds water. Her surrogates have been making this calendar explanation for a long time. It's just a somewhat clever sounding way to avoid the question. Historically primaries in the US were much later in the year so it is easy to find valid examples of primary races that went into the summer. But the question is always asked in terms of delegate math so the answer in terms of the calendar is just an evasion. Now most Obama supporters believe that she is staying in the race to support McCain because she believes he would be a better president or she thinks he would be an easier opponent in 2012 or both. If you want to make the calendar argument, there are several good examples. There is no need to resort to a false example and an assignation. And has been pointed out by many, this question has asked and answered for months now. Her explanation that these were the first examples that popped into her head doesn't withstand scrutiny. -- Seven Deadly Sins?
