I can think of about two people who probably held fundamentalist  
beliefs and voted that way who weren't assholes. Neither were 'in your  
face' about their beliefs and both had been raised in very  
fundamentalist households. In fact both were so low key about their  
religion that I had to know them for a long time before I suspected  
they were fundies.

Fundamentalism is a choice and it's the kind of choice that an asshole  
would make.

If I lived in the deep south I would expect a larger proportion of  
people who were fundamentalist simply because of family background.  
Maybe that's the way it is in Australia. Of the few non-asshole  
fundies I know, one is from Australia.
