It's mostly discussed and highly regulated regarding
psychiatric wards ("strap down") and dementia care
(locks, door alarms and personal alarms). Seems in
other areas it "just happens" and nobody lifts an eyebrow
although I'm sure the same laws apply. As always, it has
a lot to do with staff shortage - but awareness is certainly
also a big issue!
Last year a woman died shortly after she'd been found
strapped in a hoist sling over a toilet in a Danish NH -
left there alone and forgotten over night ))-:
