Yes. As a matter of fact, I had a SLP speak to our PT students and her first comment
was that most MDs think of PT whenever any rehab is needed (including speech).

I like the "you need to be a PT first in order to be an OT"!

Now, Ron, I know you know another PT who is a great advocate for OT also, right!

Subject: [OTlist] Another Sad But True Experience

Today, I met with a PT who seems to be a great advocate for the
occupational perspective that I have. He is foreign trained and says
that what I am talking about is what he was used to in Europe (sorry, I
don't remember which country). The PT's name is Jerone.

Jerone, was introducing me to doctors at his office. After the first
doctor looks at my brochure and business card, she asks me 'so, you're a
PT'. I say, 'no, I'm and OT'. She say's "Is there a difference?" Then
she say's "oh, that's right, you have to be a PT in order to be an OT."

About this time, Jerone jumped in an offered an explanation for the
differences between the two professions.

Can you believe that doctors actually think that OT and PT are the same!

Ron
