This is only speculation, but it is possible that the MD who thought you must "first be a PT in orde to become an OT" may be equating the occupational therapist with a CHT (certified hand therapist). To my understanding either a PT or an OT can train to become a CHT with further education/training................Carol Itter, COTA/L
