I was asked to "bolster a truss" today. The doctor said to me "your an OT, right? You can build stuff. I want it done by the end of today" This is the same doctor who handed me his notes and told me to "file these". I shouldn't complain, he is my highest non orthopod referral source, even if the orders usually say "OT for ambulation".

again no disrespect intended; but I have lost count of the times I have heard from clients "my mother/father sits all day and has a pressure sore, the doctor said I should get an inflatable rubber ring for them to sit on".....*shudder*

No disrespect to doctors but from my experience they seem to be oblivious to a lot of things that go on around them at times. So no, its not a surprise.

Today, I met with a PT who seems to be a great advocate for the
occupational perspective that I have. He is foreign trained and says
that what I am talking about is what he was used to in Europe (sorry, I
don't remember which country). The PT's name is Jerone.
Jerone, was introducing me to doctors at his office. After the first
doctor looks at my brochure and business card, she asks me 'so, you're a
PT'. I say, 'no, I'm and OT'. She say's "Is there a difference?" Then
she say's "oh, that's right, you have to be a PT in order to be an OT."
About this time, Jerone jumped in an offered an explanation for the
differences between the two professions.
Can you believe that doctors actually think that OT and PT are the same!
