We are not gait training the client. we are not telling them the right way
they should walk. We reinforce what the PT does when it comes to walking the
client. We may help improve transfer skills as well. This is all under IADL
which we do. I worked in a place were they did not allow OT's to take a
client to the bathroom, we had to call their PT's to do this. Yet the PT did
an ambulation program allowing the CNA to take the patient to the bathroom
or anywhere they needed to. I could not understand why they allowed a
technician to do this but not a rehab professional. I believe that
functional mobility is within our scope of practice. Juan
