You got it. Each Server in that folder is 
searched for on the network and the timeout 
time is at least 2 minutes- can't remember 
exactly and I don't know where this setting is 
buried (probably embedded into a Preference 
file or a STR resource in the Finder for all you 
ResEdit fans).
Fills up for some weird reason? Computers 
don't do this stuff because they feel like it :) 
it's because people click the "Connect 
Automatically at Startup" checkbox when 
they are logging in to their other computer. 
Don't tick it- just use the alias for the 
mounted volume in your "Recent Servers" 
folder in the Apple Menu... and when you 
know you're physically connected, open the 
alias just like any directory- then you will 
connect as per normal.
