i think you could run ser2net (linux), or other telnet serial
solution, in any serial port without problems

owserver/owhttp can connect to ser2net with the tcp/ip of this
computer, like a serial bus master
i don't remember the command line but something like
owhttpd -s ser2net_ip:ser2net_port -p 80
