At the time, there weren't any Intel chipsets that have a USB3 controller 
onboard, so devices with USB3 ports need to have an circuitry for USB3 ports 
(NEC and Renasis seem to be the big vendors). In space constrained devices, it 
probably doesn't fit (plus adds to the cost).

I had a quick look at the asus eee slate.
Only a 64 GB SSD (was hoping for 128/256 GB )
2 USB 2.0 ports (I would have thought USB 3.0 would be the norm now)
