A Chiropractor can help with the baby. I can't
tell you exactly how it works as I am not a Chiropractor, but I think it has
something to do with the baby's neck or spine being out of alignment due to
the birth process. At the hospital where I work the lactation
consultants and some midwives refer baby's who are having settling or
breastfeeding problems to a local chiropractor who deals specifically
with babies and children. I have also had personal experience with my
chiropractor who has brochures at his office on breastfeeding and settling
babies and how a Chiropractor can help. Not sure where you live, but the
Chiropractor who we refer to I think has an office in Melbourne. If you need
more information I could send you one of the brochures from my chiropractors
office. I personally feel that it works, and I have been taking my son
since he was 6 months old because I had some breastfeeding problems in that he
never wanted to lie on his right side to feed . It made a tramendous
improvement! My Chiropractor is very gently and my son has never been upset by
going to him, in fact I think he finds in very relaxing like a
massage!

Sandy,
It may be of some benefit to refer baby onto a
Chiropractor as they can sometimes help with problems of this kind if it
is a concern for the mother.

Dear all,
Would love some ideas on how to help
with a babe who has a distinct preference for one breast over the other.
The little one is four and a bit months old and attaches and draws
beautifully, just has a favourite breast, which makes Mummy a
little lop sided (at least 2 cup sizes bigger!). Mum has
tried different positions, feeding from the less popular side first etc,
but babe will just play around not feeding, and then demand a feed again
in half an hours time. And if not offered the favoured
breast will play at the breast again. Any ideas? Thanks,
