Mareeba in FNQ has a CS rate of about 13% - 15%. Small unit, 200 births a year. Midwife led. High risk women go to Cairns. Sandra, Jackie, Megan and others are working on Midwifery referral guidelines as we are down to 3 doctors after our very OB competent Med Super left. Can't get a replacement.

Does anyone on the list know of a maternity unit in Australia that has a caesarian rate as low as 15% (top end of the WHO recommendations) or are all of them up over 20/25% now.

And if so, what are you doing there to keep the numbers down??

Just curious.....
