this thing about Valve/Steam is rapidly getting off topic. I only
wanted to visit it after Scott's mention because it falls into the
category of pissing the customers off with marketing (and
distribution) considerations (and technical speedbumps), and the fact
that they are quite happy to walk away and go elsewhere (in my teens
case, EVE Online as their latest fulltime interest). Team Fortress 2
is on the hit list to get uninstalled to create more room for other
games.

@Paul - you're still not looking at Steam from a customers viewpoint.
Try rewriting what you said to make it sound compelling for an
end-user to buy into. They couldn't give a monkey's toss whether other
companies are moving into the same distribution platform... why should
they?
