Way too many people don't care one whit about "open source, decentralized,
peer-to-peer" thingies. They'd rather pay Slack, Google, et al for a service
they can "just use" and get on with life. It was frustrating and depressing to
build an XMPP server at $work, with a web client, server-to-server federation
and audio conferencing support (per the project specs), and then discover that
half the company completely went around TechOps and contracted with a third
party that did the same thing out of their own combined budgets.
