We have no clue about the number of Windows users installing from Padre CPAN or otherwise but as I said I'd prefer it to be 0.86 OTOH I have some issues with the search as it does not work as I am expecting. So I am worried upgrading to 0.86 will bring a lot of complaining people.
Ahmad, I was just about to release a new Padre on Strawberry package, still with 0.84 but with some interesting improvements in the rest of the distribution. Now I am a bit wondering if I should wait for another week to include 0.86? In that case I'll definitely also include the Wx::Scintilla module. Let me describe the issue as I have it now: no text is selected: Ctrl-f opens the empty search box at the bottom Ctrl-f again opens the 'Find' dialog with some old text in it Why does one remember and the other one not? ESC close the, that's good Ctrl-f get empty search box type in something, search works well ESC F3 now searches for something else - probably some old search\ this is not what I searched for and not the string that is in the 'Find' dialog It seems that the memories of F3, the search box at the bottom and the 'Find' dialog are not connected. Is that how you planned it? If yes, could you explain how you are using them? regards Gabor On Sun, Jun 19, 2011 at 1:54 PM, Ahmad Zawawi <ahmad.zaw...@gmail.com> wrote: > Gabor, how about we bundle Wx::Scintilla with a new Strawberry with > Cream for the Padre 0.86 release? > Adam, do you think it is wise to add q{recommends 'Wx::Scintilla';} or > something similar to Padre's Makefile.PL? > > On Sun, Jun 19, 2011 at 1:41 PM, Adam Kennedy > <adamkennedybac...@gmail.com> wrote: >> CPAN installation on Windows is a major userbase. >> >> >> >> On 18 June 2011 15:28, Gabor Szabo <szab...@gmail.com> wrote: >>> I'd say let's call it 0.86 but warn people that this might have >>> various issues as a lot of >>> change went into this version. >>> >>> As for the 0.84 being broken, if you, Adam, mean the small window thing >>> http://padre.perlide.org/trac/ticket/1225 >>> then I think this is only issue for Windows users who install Padre from >>> CPAN. >>> Those who download the "Padre on Strawberry" get a patched version of Padre. >>> >>> BTW the ticket is still open. >>> >>> regards >>> Gabor >>> >>> >>> On Sat, Jun 18, 2011 at 4:14 AM, Adam Kennedy >>> <adamkennedybac...@gmail.com> wrote: >>>> Push it out prod, the current prod is badly broken now and this one >>>> will be much less broken. >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> On 18 June 2011 08:54, Peter Lavender <pla...@internode.on.net> wrote: >>>>> Hi Everyone, >>>>> >>>>> Since we've agreed to release as a developers release, I will be branching >>>>> this weekend with the intent to roll out the release to CPAN fairly early >>>>> in >>>>> the week, as I'm going away thursday and won't be back until later the >>>>> following week. >>>>> >>>>> Given that it's a developers release, does it make sense to release it as >>>>> 0.86_01, or bump the current version as 0.84_01 and leave 0.86 as a full >>>>> released version that's more stable? >>>>> >>>>> Seems to me that it should go out as 0.84_01. >>>>> >>>>> If this works out well enough, it might be something to do more often, >>>>> rather than the full release version number and then warning that it's >>>>> unstable. >>>>> >>>>> It would mean more frequent updates to what's on CPAN rather than what we >>>>> have with this cycle where there's been a huge gap in the released >>>>> versions >>>>> while we/I work out whether it's stable enough to release. >>>>> >>>>> _______________________________________________ Padre-dev mailing list Padre-dev@perlide.org http://mail.perlide.org/mailman/listinfo/padre-dev
