Its not a generalization, its my experience.

I don't personally use a Mac anymore.  I never had any luck downloading PC
files on my Mac and transferring them to a PC.  I have several users in the
office still using PowerPCs or other Macs and they have a rough time
downloading zip files (they stick to sit or prc and let me do the zip and
exe downloads, same holds true if they upload zip or exe files to our
website).  And no, I don't know what software is currently being used.
