I don't want to sound as if I'm coming down on the side of CE, but speaking
with friends who own Palm PC's, none of them seem to be concerned with the
battery life issue.
True, five to eight hours is nothing compared to the Pilot's twenty-thirty
hours, but to a population who are used to cell-phones that need recharged
after five-six hours of use, this just isn't an issue, especially when AA
batteries are cheap (relatively) and easy to get (as opposed to cell-phone
batteries).
Looking beyond the current population of Palm PC (and Pilot) users, what
will attract a new user: glorious color or a longer battery life? I'm
suspecting the average user will choose color, and MP3, and voice-recording,
etc.
Again, this isn't a pro-CE statement. I'm just questioning whether the
longer battery life isn't overkill to a user who is only concerned with a
business-day's worth of active use, followed by a night in a cradle.
The hours I wrote above were rather vague, so to repeat Tom Zerucha's
question, has anyone any hard numbers on battery life?
Thoughts?
