Understandable. The last year and a half or so, we lowered the cover price
to $9.95. The number of people that bought it or subscribed didn't change
any significant amount. At those rates, we were losing money. Actually, at
$12.95 we were losing money too. And, during the last one-two years, we
always had at least two Palm articles, often three or four.

Sorry if I sound a bit defensive--we thought very long and very hard about
ways to keep the magazine alive. It just wasn't in the cards, and it was a
very tough decision to make because it was really a labor of love. We kept
waiting for the market size to catch up. Unfortunately, we couldn't keep
losing money waiting for that to happen.

Even now, I'm not convinced there's a market large enough to sustain that
kind of magazine, Palm-specific or multi-platform. Steve Sabram covered a
several of the reasons why it's tough in his previous email.

There is a Windows CE-specific magazine. IMHO it's a piece of crap, but
it's "sponsored" by Microsoft plus several key WinCE OEMs and Systems
Integrators. That means they are paying the bills, or at least covering the
losses.

Steve Mann
