I'm sad to hear this. It undermines the trust in the developer community
that we're trying to foster in the company, and if we can't trust
developers to not illegally distribute roms, we'll have a very hard time to
convince product teams and licensees that developers can keep secrets.

And people wonder why we don't tell developers sooner than 24 hours before
a product release happens?

The more NDA or license violations occur, the less information will be
disclosed. Sad but true - so if you want to be trusted, be trustworthy!

Sure, we gave several talks on this at PalmSource :-) I'm intending to
take the text of my talks and turn them into white papers, web pages, or
whatever, this week and/or next week. I'll post something here when
they're ready.

About forcing the screen into black&white - yes that's a good way to save
memory, but it will also make your application look a little weird to a
user of a color device. How many apps on your pc turn the screen to black
and white on you?

Also, in Palm OS 3.5 there's a greater amount of dynamic heap available,
and its size is calculated at boot time, based on the total memory of the
device. So if you're emulating a 4mb or 8mb device there'll be quite a lot
more dynamic heap than a 1mb device will have. (256k versus 64k.)
