Ill say that having a "pager application" on the PalmVII is one thing and probably a
nice convienence for alot of IT Managers or
people on call but its not really a very nice thing if there was a Paging API for all
those quacks currently designing the next
great wireless advertising boom thinking they can stuff coupons and alerts down into
my PDA all the time. Id be pretty pissed if
all my KB went to spam on my PalmVII, or my phone for that matter. But I could see a
built in pager application that was fully
customized to one person/one companies needs. As per chatting there could be a
message relaying system already built ontop of the
current messaging protocol, its very much possible. There really is no difference
with sending a message via Palm.Net and
receiving one, the only problem is sitting and clicking Check/Send, if that was
altered you would have a type of system you might
be looking for. Then again even that could be used as a "one box" for your pager
application. Im sure Palm will find ways to
accomodate a "push"-like system using the existing tools they have now.
