Bottom line, even if the use of color is restricted to what the OS
alrady provides (title bars, selected control highlighting, etc), the
readability of the screen is worth the impact on cost and batery life.



This agrees with my experience and the comments made by other IIIc users.
Color is useful for some things, but what really makes the IIIc stand out is
the fact that the display is transmissive/backlit.  "Viewability" is
superior under all lighting conditions except outdoors.  If you need outdoor
use, then this display is not for you, but my outdoor use is about 1% of my
total use, so I don't care.  No more twisting, angling, messing with the
contrast setting, just turn it on and "see".  It's almost too bad Palm
didn't do a backlit mono screen on earlier models.
