Just another data point here... I've updated my current application
to support color and was at the customer's site on Monday. I had a
few devices with the application installed for them to tinker with,
one was a IIIc. I was also using POSE on my laptop to demo/train with
a projector. I was asked to make POSE emulate the IIIc and they were
fighting over who would get to use the real one. The application
makes minimal use of color; red X's and green check marks for
pass/fail conditions, alternating silver/white background in table
items, etc. Even so, the white background and a hint of color got
them VERY excited about the application. My personal device is a IIIc
and I will not go back without a fight. The readability is just too
good to pass up.
Bottom line, even if the use of color is restricted to what the OS
alrady provides (title bars, selected control highlighting, etc), the
readability of the screen is worth the impact on cost and batery life.
Just my opinion,
