I've heard of USB adapters that you can connect between the Hotsync cradle
and the USB port on a PC. So basically you are connecting your 9 pin cradle
cable to a USB port. Does anyone know if these are these faster?

Wow, that's indeed a dramatic improvement.
Just to eliminate the possibility, do you know for a fact that they are both
configured to run HotSync at the same speed? I'd be interested in finding
that out.
