I'd use it as a matter of obtaining whether or not an accompanying
"helper" program were installed or not. That program could be a
variant of MemoPad, some sort of software key for copy protection,
perhaps a calendar application that could provide the date, or in the
case where you have other people loading several apps, and you need
them loaded in a specific sequence. I think you're immediately
assuming that Ralph is trying to create a "chameleon" app that just
sort of mixes in by creating it's own ID (that would be different on
THAT machine, but it would have to change its ID if it were beamed,
so this would be a bit of an annoyance), but in all truth, there are
many good reasons that you might need to know another app's ID.
