  not to be "unbiased" in any way...

  astraware games do not take advantage of "hardware" - so, detection of
  hardware is never an issue for them. :) might want to take a closer
  look at the games :) heck, they dont even support handera in 240x240
  or QVGA mode or take advantage of 320x320 sony screens..

  as for detecting bluetooth, sound add-ons etc.. there are normally
  *drivers* available for them :) this is something that is lacking
  from a display controller point of view.. changing display depths
  is an API.. poking display controller registers to use split screen
  or picture in picture or screen rotation (yes, hardware does support it)
  is something that has not been put into games yet due to these
  issues (i would do it if we could accurately check for the hardware)
