Oliver, I'm sorry, I disagree. See my post on this thread for easier/cheaper solution that doesn't require turning on a WEB server software. I'm against the idea without even discussing costs or time to setup a web server. ALL of the WEB server software for the Win platforms have many known vulnerabilities, new ones are posted daily, and if you don't patch everyday, you have problems. If Fawaz is planning on distributing this application to anybody who wants it (or pays for it). He will have to help them setup a web server. And he needs to be sure to explain to these users the security issues associated with them. Personally, if he was truthful about the issues to potential customers, nobody in their right mind would want to install a web server on their home computer or workstation at an office.
The hardware may be cheap, but the firewalls, security patches, support, and special considerations make them an expensive and time consuming proposition. I just can't imagine the problems and liabilities that come with telling customers they have to setup a windows web server software to use your app. I still think my solution is the easiest to produce, cheapest for the customer, and easiest to support. Just my opinion FWISW -------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary Gorsline Easy Business Software ========================== End of Message ========================== ----- Original Message ----- From: "Oliver Steinmeier" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Palm Developer Forum" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, April 25, 2002 11:30 AM Subject: Re: no web clipping server socket programming > > Ferdianand you are right but what "all mine" means > is > > that I don't want to use web servers or any kind of > > web server technologies.
